Fujimoto Toshifumi, owner of the Kaede Nursing Home in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Japan, greeted the National Honor Society students at the front door during their visit to the home, Nov. 17, 2015. Nineteen students visited the Kaede Nursing Home as a way to give back to the local community, experience a new culture and make new friends. Japanese contestants wrote their own speeches in English and American students delivered theirs in Japanese. Orphans from Garden of Light Children’s Home in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, play in a bounce castle at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Oct. 31, 2015. During their visit, 50 station volunteers escorted 15 orphans to a haunted house operated by Marines from Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, enjoyed bonding over dinner and trick-or-treating around the air station.
