米海兵隊岩国航空基地 -- 海兵第２２５全天候戦闘攻撃中隊が部隊交代計画に基づき、母基地であるカリフォルニア州ミラマー基地より９月１５日、岩国に到着した。
同中隊、通称「バイキングス」の指揮官はスティーブン・Ｎ・マクルーン中佐。部隊はおよそ２５０人の海兵隊員とF/A-18 D型ホーネット全天候戦闘攻撃機およそ１０機で構成されている。
「バイキングス」は、サウスカロライナ州ビューフォート基地へ帰還の海兵第１２２戦闘攻撃中隊「ウェアウォルヴス」と交代する。
VMFA(AW)-225 arrives at MCAS Iwakuni
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Sept 16, 2016) –
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (All-Weather) 225, stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, arrived here Sept. 15 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
Lt. Col. Stephen N. McClune commands the "Vikings," which consists of approximately 250 Marines and approximately 10 F/A-18D Hornet aircraft.
The “Vikings” replace VMFA-122, the “Werewolves,” which returned to MCAS Beaufort, S.C.
