岩国基地は、たゆまず強固な日本国との二国間関係をさらに強めるものとして、民間航空機が増便して基地内軍用滑走路からの運用を行うことを４月１９日（日）より了承した。

この暫定措置は、広島にて最近発生した航空機の緊急事態に起因するものである。岩国錦帯橋空港の発着便利用者は、すべての民間航空の運用が岩国基地内の軍の航空機運用に支障をきたさない前提のもとにあること、またそれゆえに、軍の運用の必要性から遅延や一時的停止の可能性があることを知っておくべきである。

安全を最優先事項として、基地の航空管制センターでは引き続き、これまでも評価を受けてきているように民間航空便の遅延が最小限のものとなるよう、また、すべての発着機の安全確保に力を尽くす。

民間の臨時便についての照会は、便を運航している航空会社が問い合わせ先となる。

Additional Commercial Flight Granted Effective 19 Apr

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Apr 20, 2015) –

Reinforcing our enduring and strong bilateral relationship with Japan, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni has authorized additional commercial flights to operate from the MCAS Iwakuni military runway, effective Sunday, Apr. 19.  

The recent aircraft emergency at Hiroshima airport prompted this temporary arrangement.  Passengers flying through Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport should note that all civil aviation operations are on a strict not-to-interfere basis with military aviation operations at MCAS Iwakuni, and are thus subject to delay or suspension due to military operational requirements. 

In that safety is paramount, the air station’s Air Traffic Control center will continue their longstanding reputation of minimizing delays and ensuring the safe operation of all inbound and outbound aircraft.
