予算上の不確定要素により、米軍の航空ショーが世界中のいたるところで中止となっている。岩国基地は親善デーの地元における重要性について理解している。基地の上層部は親善デーが予算方針の例外となるようすでに申請している。しかし、現時点では方針の例外となるかどうかの決定はなく、今年の親善デーが中止となる可能性はある。この件について明確な答えを基地は数週間内に得る予定。より多くの情報については、４月１５日に開かれる親善デーについての記者会見で明らかにされる。岩国基地は、この件が私たちの友人ならびに隣人の方々にもたらす不都合について遺憾である。

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (March 25, 2013)

Due to budgetary uncertainty U.S. military airshows have been cancelled throughout the world. We understand the importance of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni's Friendship Day to the local community. Air station leaders have applied for an exception to policy. However, at this time we do not have resolution on the exception to policy, and the possibility of cancelation of Friendship Day exists this year. We will have clarity on the issue in upcoming weeks. More information will be available at our Friendship Day press conference April 15. We regret any inconvenience this causes to our friends and neighbors.
