岩国基地は、日本の外務省ならびにアメリカ国防総省教育機関太平洋部門が日米の学生を対象に基地内にて実施する交流イベントを取材する機会を設けます。これは、２０２０年より始まった青年交流事業「日米交流の促進・相互理解の増進のためのプロジェクト」の一環で、日本国内の米軍基地にある学校でそれぞれ行われています。

岩国基地では９月７日と８日の２日間にわたり、日米の中高生は様々な物事の見方を培い、相互理解を深め、言葉の障壁を乗り越え、問題解決能力を身につけられるような実践的な活動に取り組みます。交流事業の一部は報道陣に公開されます。

Media Advisory (MOFA-DoDEA School Event)

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (August 26, 2024) –

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni will host a media opportunity on base during an event in which the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Pacific will bring local Japanese students and DoDEA students together. This is a part of a youth exchange program titled Student Educational Exchange and Dialogue (SEED), a project held at DoDEA schools on U.S. military installations in Japan, launched in 2020.

During a two-day event to be held aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Sept. 7-8, American and Japanese middle and high school students will take part in hands-on activities designed to foster diverse perspectives, promote mutual understanding, bridge language barriers, and build problem-solving skills. Some of these events will be open to the press.
