基地と地元である岩国の健康と安全を守るうえで万全を期すため、米海兵隊岩国航空基地と海上自衛隊第３１航空群は、新型コロナウイルスによる感染症の懸念のため、フレンドシップデー２０２２を中止することを相互の合意のもと決定しました。

岩国基地は引き続き、岩国市ならびに受け入れ国の皆様とこの感染症の世界的大流行を乗り越えるべく、ともに連携し、歩んでまいります。この先、フレンドシップデーをはじめ、基地の外の隣人の皆様を基地内にお迎えできる機会に恵まれることを心待ちにしております。

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (February 15, 2022) ––

In an abundance of caution taken in order to protect the health and safety of the Air Station and local Iwakuni community, MCAS Iwakuni and JMSDF FAW-31 have mutually decided to cancel Friendship Day 2022 due to concerns over COVID-19.

We will continue to work side-by-side with the City of Iwakuni and our host nation to get through this pandemic. We look forward to the future of Friendship Day and other opportunities to welcome our off-base neighbors onto the air station.
