米海兵隊岩国航空基地と海上自衛隊第３１航空群は、基地 と地元である岩国の健康と安全を守るうえで万全を期すため、フレンドシップデー２０２１を中止する ことを両者間で決定しました。 
 
「新型コロナウイルスに対し良好な兆しが最近みられるものの、この決定がコミュニティを守りぬくた めには最大の利益をもたらす」とランス・ルイス岩国基地司令。「引き続き、新型コロナウイルスの感 染防止策を遵守しワクチン接種が進むにつれて、将来に予定されるフレンドシップデーで基地の外の皆 様をお迎えできるよう希望を持っています」とコメントしています。

FD2021 Cancellation

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Feb. 25, 2021) –

In an abundance of caution taken in order to protect the health and safety of the Air Station and local Iwakuni community, MCAS Iwakuni and JMSDF FAW-31 have mutually decided to cancel Friendship Day 2021. 
 
“Despite our recent successes in the fight against COVID, this decision is in the best interest of protecting our community,” said Col Lance Lewis, commanding officer of MCAS Iwakuni. “With continued adherence to COVID mitigation procedures and progress with vaccinations, I am optimistic that we can welcome our off-base community for future Friendship Days.”
