米海兵隊岩国航空基地 -- 第２５１海兵戦闘攻撃中隊が部隊交代計画に基づき、母基地であるサウスカロライナ州ビューフォート基地より９月１３日、岩国に到着した。
同中隊、通称「サンダー・ボルツ」の指揮官はアレン・Ｅ・シェズペック中佐。 部隊はおよそ２４０人の海兵隊員とF/A-18C型ホーネット戦闘攻撃機およそ１２機で構成されている。
「サンダー・ボルツ」は、カリフォルニア州ミラマー基地へ帰還した第２３２海兵戦闘攻撃中隊「レッド・デビルズ」と交代する。
VMFA 251 arrives at MCAS Iwakuni
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Sept. 13, 2017) –
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251, stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, arrived here Sept. 13 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
Lt. Col. Allen E. Szczepek Jr. commands the "Thunderbolts," which consists of approximately 240 Marines and 12 F/A-18C Hornet aircraft.
The “Thunderbolts” replace VMFA-232, the “Red Devils,” which returned to MCAS Miramar.
