米海兵隊岩国航空基地より、５月５日に予定されていることしの海上自衛隊/米海兵隊岩国航空基地フレンドシップデーへ、先の発表に加えて参加が決定した次のラインアップをご紹介します。

海上自衛隊と米海兵隊、双方の岩国航空基地は、第４１回を迎えるフレンドシップデーが、皆様にとって文化的な視野を広げる経験となるよう、協力して作業をすすめてまいりました。ご来場になるあらゆる年齢の皆様が、このイベントから何かを感じ取り、思い出に残る一日となれば幸いです。

航空ショー：
航空自衛隊F-2－福岡県の築城基地より、航空自衛隊のF-2がその能力を披露しに岩国基地へやってきます。空高く舞い上がるF-2の敏捷性、迫力のある推力に、優れた機動性能をご覧ください。

航空機展示/地上展示：
南極の氷－海上自衛隊は、文部科学省が毎年実施している南極観測業務を支援しています。海上自衛隊では、南極から直接持ち帰った氷を皆様に公開いたします。同観測業務を支援する日本の砕氷艦「しらせ」が、第５８次南極観測支援から持ち帰ってきてくれました。さらに、南極観測隊の輸送業務に使われるヘリコプター「ＣＨ－１０１」なども展示します。

ブライトリングDC-3－ブライトリングのDC-3が、ことし建造から77年目を迎えることを記念し、世界を一周するワールドツアーを実施しています。このDC-3 HB-IRJは、1940年にアメリカン航空に納入され、1942年から1944年の間は初めて米軍でも使用されました。その後、数々の民間航空会社で活躍した実績があります。ブライトリングでは、ダグラスDC-3のような文化遺産とも呼ぶべき航空機の維持、修復を支援することで、航空遺産の保護に力を尽くしています。

米海兵隊/陸上自衛隊の装備品－フレンドシップデーでは、日米両国のプロが使用する装備品や機材をご覧いただけます。89式小銃、5.56ミリ機関銃MINIMIをはじめ、地対空ミサイルシステム（通称中SAM： 03式中距離地対空誘導弾）、そのほかが登場予定です。

航空機のお好きな方々には、WACO社製の懐かしい複葉機や、航空機のオーナーやパイロットの世界的組織であるAOPAの日本支部より、航空機展示もあります。

航空ショー、また航空機展示や地上展示に加わる内容は、事前の予告なく変更の可能性があります。

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni is pleased to announce additional performers for this year’s JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day, which will be held on May 5.

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni have been working together to make the 41st annual JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day a culturally enriching experience for everyone. It is our goal to provide a memorable event that offers something for all ages.

Air Show:
JASDF F-2 - Flying from Tsuiki Air Base, Fukuoka, Japan Air Self-Defense Force will demonstrate the capabilities of the F-2. Spectators will be amazed by its agility, thrust and maneuverability as it soars through the skies.

Aircraft Static Displays/Ground Static Displays:
Ice from Antarctica - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force supports the annual Antarctic Research Expedition of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan. JMSDF takes great pleasure in displaying portions of an iceberg directly from the South Pole. The Japanese icebreaker ship SHIRASE supported the expedition and brought back the ice from the 58th Antarctic Research Expedition. Additionally, the CH-101 helicopter, which supports airlift and transportation for the Antarctic expeditionary team, will be on display.

Breitling DC-3 - The Breitling DC-3 will be doing a grand-world tour in several stages, an amazing accomplishment for this legendary plane that will be celebrating its 77th birthday this year. This DC-3 HB-IRJ was delivered to American Airlines in 1940 and was first used by the American military between 1942 and 1944, before resuming service on behalf of various commercial airlines. Breitling demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding aeronautical heritage by supporting the restoration of legendary aircraft such as the Douglas DC-3.

USMC/JGSDF ground equipment - Visitors will have an opportunity to view bilateral professional gear and assets. Enthusiasts will be able to see Type 89 Assault Rifles, 5.56 mm caliber rifle MINIMIs, and middle-range SAM surface-to-air missile systems, and more.

Aviation fans will also have the opportunity to see WACO classic biplanes and additional aircraft provided by the AOPA, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Japan.
