2022年2月27日に米海兵隊岩国航空基地で実施された能力デモンストレーションにおいて、参加する航空機を誘導するためにフライトラインを横切って歩く海上自衛隊員。このデモンストレーションには、米海兵隊岩国航空基地司令部司令中隊（H&HS）所属の米海兵隊UC-12Wヒューロン、第1海兵航空団第12海兵飛行大隊（MAG-12）所属のF-35ライトニングII（2機）とKC-130Jスーパーハーキュリーズ、第5空母打撃群（CSG-5）第5空母航空団（CAW-5）所属の米海軍F/A-18Eスーパーホーネット（3機）、F/A-18Fスーパーホーネット、EA-18Gグラウラー、E-2ホークアイ、C-2グレイハウンド、第31航空群（FAW-31）所属の海上自衛隊US-2、EP-3、OP-3C、UP-3D、U-36A、MCH-101が参加し、日米同盟と自由で開かれたインド太平洋地域を支援するハイレベルな即応態勢と複合能力を示した。米海兵隊岩国航空基地は、併設された港湾施設と飛行場を使用し、岩国基地以外の所属航空機を運用する中継地や様々な作戦活動のための中継地として機能することで、統合軍を支援する能力を有している。（写真：ダリエン・ライト伍長）
