米海兵隊岩国航空基地 - 日米共同訓練オリエントシールド（OS22）を支援するため、米海軍高速輸送船グアム（T-HST-1）が8月24日、米海兵隊岩国航空基地に入港した。OS22は陸上自衛隊と米陸軍が日本で実施する最大級の二国間実働訓練。岩国基地はその地理的位置と航空施設および港湾施設を併せ持つことから、インド太平洋地域における動的戦力運用を支援するという稀有な位置づけにある。（写真：マイカ・テイラー兵長）
