Nov 8, 2017
Distinguished guests from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni and Iwakuni City symbolically plant a dogwood tree during the Kizuna Stadium grand opening in Iwakuni City, Japan, Nov. 4, 2017. The dogwood trees represent the friendship between the U.S. and Japan and are part of a larger project held countrywide throughout Japan. Over one hundred years ago the people of Japan donated cherry blossom trees that are now planted in Washington D.C. Four years ago a project was created to donate 3,000 dogwood trees from the people of the United States to the people of Japan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Carlos Jimenez)
