Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers treat an injured Marine during a simulated improvised explosive device explosion during Exercise Guard and Protect at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 20-23, 2015. Exercise Guard and Protect is a joint security force operation that enables the station’s readiness in case the station has to make a defense posture. During the exercise Marines and JGSDF soldiers had to overcome the language barriers in order to affectively accomplish the mission.
