MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force aviators launch flares into the air as part of their mandatory, semi-annual Life-Saving Survival Training aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Jan. 28, 2014. In addition to the flare-gun, participants also shot off pencil-gun rounds, which is a smaller version of the flare-gun.
