岩国基地は本日火曜日、普天間基地よりKC-130空中給油機のフライトシミュレーターを迎えた。このシミュレーターは、海兵第１５２空中給油輸送中隊において、部隊のパイロットに完全にシミュレーション環境下での訓練を可能にする。シミュレーターは、実際に航空機に搭乗しての飛行訓練を補助するもので、全面的に飛行錬度を引き上げるものである。シミュレーターは、現実の飛行訓練に１対１の比率で置き換えられるものではないが、パイロットは定期的にフライト・シミュレーターを使用し、最も適した訓練と資格を維持するのに役立てる。またこの装置は、実際の航空機を用いた場合、安全に終わらせることが難しい緊急手順訓練をパイロットが実施するのにも役立つ。さらに、このシミュレーターでは、空中給油および輸送を行うパイロットがより多くの課題に直面する戦術的ミッション時の訓練、例えば、夜間に行うヘリコプターに対する空中給油や、空路経由での物資輸送などの局面について、岩国にいながらにして、訓練に伴うリスクなしに実施することができる。このKC-130空中給油機のシミュレーターの移設を以って、海兵第１５２空中給油輸送中隊は岩国基地への移駐を完了する。

VMGR-152 Welcomes KC-130 Simulator, Completes Relocation to Iwakuni

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Aug 2, 2016)

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni welcomed a KC-130 simulator transported from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma Tuesday. The simulator brings new capabilities to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 by allowing pilots to train in a completely simulated environment. The simulator will supplement actual flight training in the aircraft and increase overall flight proficiency.  While the simulator cannot totally replicate, nor is it a 1:1 replacement for, actual flight training, pilots routinely use flight simulators to help them maintain optimal training and certification.  This equipment will also allow pilots to conduct emergency procedures training that could not be safely accomplished in an actual aircraft. Moreover, the simulator will enable VMGR pilots to conduct many of the more challenging tactical missions, such as night helicopter air-to-air refueling and aerial delivery, locally and without the inherent risk. The transfer of the KC-130 simulator completes the VMGR-152 transfer to MCAS Iwakuni.
