米海兵隊岩国航空基地 - 11月16日、岩国市美和町の「岩国往来」において行われた地域交流イベントで、丸太にクランプを打ち込む岩国市出身のシモハラ・フミオさん（写真右上）と米海兵隊岩国航空基地所属の海兵隊員。岩国基地と地域コミュニティとの関係を強化するため、岩国基地の海兵隊員は2005年から地元の人たちによる「岩国往来」の整備の手伝っている（写真：レイモンド・トン伍長）。
