米海兵隊岩国航空基地 -- 第５３３海兵全天候戦闘攻撃中隊が部隊交代計画に基づき、母基地であるサウスカロライナ州ビューフォート基地より３月１５日、岩国に到着した。
ウィリアム・B・ミレット３世中佐の指揮する通称「ホークス」は、２００名を超える海兵隊員と部隊所属の F/A-18D型ホーネット戦闘攻撃機で構成されている。
「ホークス」は、サウスカロライナ州ビューフォート基地へ帰還した第２５１海兵戦闘攻撃中隊、通称「サンダーボルト」と交代する。
VMFA(AW)-533 arrives at MCAS Iwakuni
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (March 15, 2018) –
Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, arrived here March 15, 2018, as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
Lt. Col. William B. Millett III commands the "Hawks," which consists of more than 200 Marines and their F/A-18D Hornet aircraft.
The “Hawks” replace VMFA-251, the “Thunderbolts,” which returned to MCAS Beaufort.
