岩国基地は、任務遂行のため常に即応態勢を整えた航空基地です。航空基地は、テナントとして駐留する組織、ならびに米国とその同盟国軍が、アジア太平洋地域全域において、訓練、戦闘、あるいは不測の事態（人道支援/災害救助）に対応する際、軍事基地機能を継続して提供する能力を有しています。岩国というコミュニティを形づくる一員として、基地の望みは、同盟に基いて実施される運用上欠くことのできない訓練の要求項目を基地として満たすと同時に、滑走路の運用支援をさらに広げ、この日曜日から開始される、毎日運航の追加便２枠－１枠は東京の羽田空港へ、もう１枠は沖縄の那覇空港へ－の支援を実施していくことにあります。岩国において、民間空港という軍民統合しての運用が、これまでも継続して安全かつ成功して実施されてきたのは、民空を支える基地の運用担当者の揺らぎないプロ意識とその仕事、日米両国の同盟が不屈の強靭さと臨機応変に対応できる柔軟性を持ち合わせていること、また、基地が地元のコミュニティと培ってきた強固な関係が実を結んでいることを表しています。

MCAS Iwakuni remains a mission-ready air station, capable of providing continuous base-operating support for tenant organizations and follow-on U.S. and allied forces during training, combat, or contingency (HA/DR) operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region. As an integral part of the greater-Iwakuni community, our desire is to support the Alliance-driven mission-essential training requirements while extending airfield operational support for the two additional daily flights commencing this Sunday - one direct to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, and the other direct to Okinawa's Naha Airport. The continued safe and successful integration of commercial airport operations here reflects the unwavering professionalism of our MCAS-I team, the enduring strength and flexibility of our Alliance, and the strong relationship that we share with our local community.
