海兵第５４２攻撃中隊が５月１２日、部隊交代計画に基づき母基地であるノースカロライナ州チェリーポイント基地より岩国に到着した。

同中隊、通称「タイガース」の指揮官はジェームス・A・シュネリ中佐。部隊はおよそ１３０人の海兵隊員とAV-8B型ハリアー攻撃機６機で構成されている。

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (May 23, 2014) 

Marine Attack Squadron 542, stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., arrived here May 12, 2014 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

Lt. Col. James A. Schnelle commands the "Tigers," which consists of approximately 130 Marines and approximately six AV-8B Harrier aircraft.
