海兵第１２飛行大隊はＫＣ－１３０Ｊ型ハーキュリー１機を使って、２０１２年６月６日午後２時（グアム現地時間）にグアム島近辺にあるチャック島の北西６０海里（約１１１．１２キロ）で漂流していた船員２人の救助について米国沿岸警備隊を支援した。

海兵隊は２４歳と３６歳の船員の乗った小船を発見、救命用具を装備した小型の（ゴム）ボートを投下し沿岸警備隊に場所を無線で連絡。遭難者は約２時間半後に民間の（石炭・穀物などの）ばら荷の輸送船により救助された。

Marine Aircraft Group 12 Marines locate mariners missing near Guam

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (June 7, 2012)

Marines with Marine Aircraft Group 12 used a KC-130J Hercules aircraft to assist the U.S. Coast Guard rescuing two mariners stranded 60 nautical miles northwest of Chuuk Island near Guam at 2:00 p.m. June 6, 2012.

The Marines spotted a skiff containing the two mariners, aged 24 and 32, dropped a life raft near them containing survival equipment, and radioed their location to the Coast Guard. The men were picked up approximately 2.5 hours later by a civilian bulk carrier.
