岩国基地にてこれまでの２４時間内に、新型コロナウイルス検査で１名が陽性と判明しました。

該当する人物は外出制限下にはありませんでした。陽性と判明後、岩国基地は直ちに該当者を外出制限下に置きました。

陽性の事例が確認されると、基地は積極的に行動履歴を追跡し、濃厚接触者の全員に対し連絡、検査、また必要に応じ隔離を行っています。濃厚接触者の検査によりさらに陽性の事例が見つかる可能性があります。

陽性との検査結果が出た人物については、アメリカのオリンピックチームとこれまで何ら関連がありません。岩国基地は基地内での新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大を防いできた実績があり、基地の拡大防止策には引き続き自信があります。基地内にワクチンの接種を済ませた者が高い割合でいることで、新型コロナウイルスの感染が広がるリスクは大幅に軽減されており、基地が運用を続けながらも基地内の人員ならびに地元の方々の安全を守ることを可能にしています。

基地内の医療当局は基地の外の保健当局に対し、本件に関連する追跡調査で得られた内容について今後とも情報を提供していきます。

陽性との検査結果を受けた全員が、海軍の医療当局が定める指針に基づき回復したとの判断がなされるまで、隔離下におかれます。

Update COVID-19

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (July 16, 2021) –

Within the last 24 hours, one (1) individual at MCAS Iwakuni has tested positive for COVID-19.

This individual was not in a restriction of movement status. Upon testing positive, MCAS Iwakuni immediately placed this individual into a restriction of movement status.

Upon detection of any positive case, MCAS Iwakuni conducts aggressive contact tracing and will contact, test, and appropriately quarantine all close contacts. Testing of close contacts may result in the identification of additional positive cases.

The individual who tested positive has had no association with the U.S. Olympic Team. MCAS Iwakuni has a proven track record of preventing the spread of COVID on the installation, and we remain confident in our prevention measures. The high rate of vaccinated individuals on the installation has significantly reduced the risk of spreading COVID and has allowed the air station to continue operating while safeguarding our personnel and local community.

On-base medical authorities continue to work closely with off-base health authorities concerning relevant contact trace findings.

All individuals who receive positive tests results will remain in isolation status until classified as recovered in accordance with Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery guidance.
