米海兵隊岩国航空基地 -- 第３１１海兵攻撃中隊が部隊交代計画に基づき、母基地のアリゾナ州ユマ基地から岩国に１月２８日に到着した。
同中隊、通称「トムキャッツ」の指揮官はクレイグ・E・シャフナー中佐。部隊はおよそ２００名の海兵隊員とAV-8B型ハリアー攻撃機８機で構成されている。

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (Feb 1, 2017) –
Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 311, stationed out of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, arrived here Jan. 28 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
Lt. Col. Craig E. Schaffner commands the "Tomcats," which consists of approximately 200 Marines and 8 AV/8B Harrier aircraft.
